People don’t realize it, but my life as an artist started in the theatre, as a young child. I had the lead in the European premiere of “Raisin,” which had just closed on Broadway. I took over from “Good Times” star, Ralph Carter, in the role of Travis Younger, and toured Switzerland, Germany and Paris for over six months, at the age of nine.
So I’m grateful whenever an opportunity to work with actors presents itself. The photo shoot with the cast of Arena Stage’s upcoming World premiere historical drama, Camp David, reminded me how much I miss performing. Not to mention that I get to work with some of my favorite artists of stage and screen.
According to, Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Lawrence Wright, “Camp David is the story of how Jimmy Carter, Menachem Begin, and Anwar Sadat came together to forge a treaty between Israel and Egypt that has endured long after their passing from power. This is a play about leadership and sacrifice and what it takes to make peace.”
Working with this four-member cast was a like a dream – President Jimmy Carter (Emmy winner Richard Thomas) and his wife Rosalynn (Tony nominee Hallie Foote) Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin (Tony winner Ron Rifkin) and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat (Khaled Nabawy.)
